Declaration...

I think its time to make a Declaration of Intent to Secede. I've nearly decided that the vacuumous world of Facebook has very nearly killed my blogging, and i'm about to draw the line. As i've stated many times, the blog exists for the future, for the Royals...you just get to read it before they do. Its an ongoing autobiographic of The Kingdom...our family and growing up, discovering, parenting, living...loving. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace...you name it, is by nature a cheap trick, a quick opiate for comment junkies. I've come to realize that it has charmed me for a season, but i am beginning to see the seductress for who she really is...a cheap whore robbing me, and my family, of memories of the present...in the future. So, if you are a friend of mine on Floozbook and you wanna keep in touch, might wanna think about getting yourself a Personalized Placemat (on the sidebar to your immediate right) or bookmarking the site for future reference.

Now, with that said, i certainly do not regard those who continue with Facebook (or whatever e-venue you choose) as base or immature or whatever offense one may take in my statements. It has its place, it is good for communication, finding old friends and such. It is merely a bane to me. As stated, it has been a narcotic, and the euphoria begins to sicken me. If you enjoy it...great! If you find it has value...fantastic. Its just taking up too much of my time, that i've determined should be spent chronicling things that happen here.

So, i'll be here...with a hot cup of Irish coffee (or some other Celtic laden tipple)...any time you wanna join me around The Table...i'll be happy for the company...

Slainte'!

I too have been guilty of spending more time on FB than my blog. But then again I try to keep the two worlds separate. Facebook is for family and close friend stuff, my blog is the more personal stuff that's only open to my online blogging friends. Strange, huh?

Although I drive by FB, it just does not have any pull with me. I like life around the table.

I seem to go back and forth on this one! It's the same thing with anything I do. Moderation... that's the key for me. When things begin to draw me then it's time for a re-evaluation and sometimes just a plain fasting period takes care of it.
Also what you said about using this for..."the blog exists for the future, for the Royals."
I like that cause my children go through my old blogs often, and I do mean often,we get a lot of laughs and joy from them. I may even start a new one sometime.
I sure love you guys Mr. Piper, you keep our lives a little spicier. Blessings.

I am delighted..I have been checking here every day and wondering if we had lost you. Friends come and go, but Family and The Blog are what keep me peaceful and connected. I actually stopped the Facebook for all the blither-blather. Love your renderings - glad you're back!

Wow - me too Morning Lady - The "love your renderings" came from HONEY (see we're out of practice!)

Yep. Facebook is scary. I dabbled after a prodding from a missed HS reunion curiosity, but it quickly became bothersome.

I bailed on it months ago.

FB is a time-hole. I'm not ready to be part of FB-Anonymous. I'm trying a step-down program of my own. No more quizzes, no more games - just one post of an evening and I'm done.

Not easy with Bejeweled Blitz staring at me but...I'm managing w/out too much withdrawal.

I'm ok with FB, to me it takes way less time than a blog or even reading everyone's blogs, which I can spend hours doing. Love your blogs btw... -Keli

I dabbled with FB for about six months and then went cold turkey and never looked back. I can't say I'm displeased with this post. I had quit coming by because you seemed to have quit blogging for the most part... but I'm back now that you're back. ;-)
