Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. I sat at a table where were rich food and wine in abundance, and obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry from the inhospitable board. Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)

A day in the life of...
Yesterday, i needed to get some things for dinner at the store and the girls had been asking me to go to the park all morning. So, we loaded up in Daddy's Toy and went to the park. I decided that since the entire play area of the park is shaded by 3 or 4 HUGE sycamores the heat is actually bearable, and very nearly pleasant. When i say these trees are huge, i mean they are mammoths, i'd say about 60 feet tall each with a base diameter on the plus side of 4 feet. They gotta be some of the largest trees in Duncan. I always look at them and think they are going to waste in a fashion without a long tire swing or some kind of rope swing hanging from one of the branches beginning at about 20 feet. I really miss the swing i had for the girls at our house in Marlow, it was cool. I could get them swinging up to about 10 feet in the air, and they would just giggle and laugh. We sure could use a tree large enough for that here, but we're working on it. They played for about 45 minutes til Jameson took his 2nd faceplant into the stairs they were climbing on. This time it goose-egged right about the spot where his hair meets his forehead. Yeah, he cried a litle, but was fine by the time we got back to the picnic table and got a drink. We met Bo for lunch and talked Fantasy Football, while the girls peeled the corn off of their dogs and ate their fries. They seem to have the Queen's tendencies in that, i would eat the corny part off and leave the hotdog. The Bachelor Boys showed up when we were almost done, so we talked a little more football and exited stage left. Nope, nothing real exciting today, just an average day, we did have Josh and Kim over for dinner last night which is always good. It was highlighted by a couple readings from A Wee Book o Fairy Tales in Scots. We absolutely butchered the Scottish brogue but had some good laughs anyway. Be sure to click on the link for an excerpt. And that's how the evening ended. I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish my oldest brother Mike a very Happy Birthday yesterday and to remind him to check his voice mail for his birthday wishes from the Prince and Princesses.
