Birthday Weekend...

With Oklahoma undergoing the metamorphosis from "drought stricken", arid badland to semi-tropical alluvion, we have actually been enjoying some very pleasant days, since "The Flood". Hence, this probably should be titled, "Post-Deluge Post" since we are finally returning to some normalcy in Oklahoma Springtide. The Big Birthday Bash was a washout, literally. We conferred and decided to reschedule for a date TBA. Here's a couple reasons why...
These were taken on Friday, just a couple blocks from where the Queen works. Although no where near the worst of the flooding, it was just some that we encountered. Yeah, i went through it. It was only maybe 8-10 inches deep, so not a big deal. I did see some of the drainage ditches that were VERY deep, and some just couldn't contain the water.

While we're on the subject, and i realize that some of you don't live here, but bear with me...It's only April 2, Gary England (the world famous weathercaster here) is completely in his "element". Yes, its tornado season, and yes, we've already had a couple days of them, and yes, they've done extensive damage. (Pause to collect myself) Ya know, not long ago, a friend sent me an email entitled "The Gary England Drinking Game" which i'll have to dig up and post it here at the next round of twisters. Believe me, it's a CLASSIC. Although i did reply to him and said we could simplify the rules a bit and just say "Every time Gary says 'gintner' take a drink. [not a shot, mind you, just a simple drink]." You'll be hospitalized long before the actual storm victims arrive. Here's a shortlist of words you absolutely will NOT have to familiarize yourself with when you come to Oklahoma in this most exciting of seasons...Gintner, Val, hook echo, mesocyclone, debris, MOAR, tornado (used as a verb)wall cloud, rotation, rain wrapped... shall i continue? If there's any weather at all, just tune in to the local and you'll have these terms committed to memory in about 9 minutes. I should note here, i am thankful for the technology that effectively pinpoints, diagnoses, and predicts the path of harm's way. It just gets a little melodramatic often. On the other side, here's a little "Lookin out my back Door" sorry, no tambourines, and elephants...Just green, nice cool, green.

So, anyway, the Big Bash was erased and not yet re-penciled, but festivities occured notwithstanding. Papa and cousin Reece braved the Deluge and came down from Denver anyway. Saturday morning started with, yep, you guessed it, pancakes, and later we all loaded up and headed for McDungald's (oh you know what i mean, the kids like it and that's what its all about) and a picnic at the park. As you can tell, it was time well invested.

As stated, there were festivities. After the park, there were naps, by all, and then later that evening, the proxy party. The neighbors came over for the ritual singing and IC&C.

The Princess was elated, and all was made right again. Tomorrow's post will include pics of Sunday's events, so tune in then for the exciting conclusion.

Sorry about the big party. It was probably nice to just visit with the in-laws.

We do not get News9 or Gary England. We watch KSWO. The new young weatherman seems much better than Chicken Little who would holler, "The sky is falling - take cover now!" He has moved on. They also got rid of Casper the Ghost who tried to scare everyone. What is it with weathermen? I don't have a nic-name for the present man, but time will tell.
