Bubblegum anyone...?

Its been an interesting few days in and around the Kingdom. Take for instance...

As of right now, we've had a break from the intense heat, but last week this was not the case and we all needed a snowcone run. So off to our favorite stand we went. I've been a banana daquiri addict for some time now, The Queen is into cherry cheesecake, and the Royals, they're just good with whatever is cold and contains sugar. P2, on this particular day selected the blue bubble gum...a curious mix of flavors i would assume.

Now, i've never explained, dear reader, how certain dyes in kool-aid affect the color of our...er...productions. We buy this grape kool aid that we keep on hand for internal coolant against the extreme heat we've been having. It has a strange side effect...instead of brown trout swimming in Swirly Lake...its moss green, bright moss green.

Fast forward to the evening after the blue bubble gum snow cone. The Queen is helping everyone get the night night du jour on and the pre-big sleep bathroom rituals had begun. P2 needed to empty the solid waste tank. By all reports from The Queen, it was...marbled...blue and green. Now, i'm not one to take pictures but...

Today, P2 took the starring role again. I know this is going to come as a shock to most, but we've been dealing with some disobedience issues. Consequently, The Queen had sent to her "the dreaded Corner" this afternoon...in fact, when i came home from lunch, she was there. I get this call later this afternoon...

"You wanna guess where P2 put her gum today?"

"...oh no...not in her hair...?"

"No...we were doing some school and she sneezed, and i looked and said, 'WHAT is THAT?!' something was sticking out of her nose...she said, 'My gum'...and when i asked her WHY she put it in her nose...she said...'because i was done with it'.Then i asked her WHEN she put it in her nose...'when i was in the corner'."

Now, dear reader, it is not abnormal for a 4 year old to put gum in odd places...but there are a couple items that make this a bit...incredible. Namely, this was cinnamon flavored gum...now not ever having placed anything cinnamon flavored in my nose, by choice (although there was that incident with a cinnamon roll and too much chocolate milk)...i can't imagine it extremely...pleasant. And for the coup de grace, so to speak, the elapsed time the foreign object had its secretive lodging...three hours.

Sometimes the corner or time-out just gives them time to come up with some new escapade. Maybe you should teach her to just put it behind her ear.

I'll never look at a piece of gum the same way again. And cinnamon flavored gum to boot? Ouch. Wonder if I'd get the same sensation if I just snorted mustard?

Oh yeah, and you just provided an answer to a similar mystery in our, uh, bathroom. Guess it was the grape Kool-Aid, after all.

And how long does a snowcone last in 105 degree heat before it turns into a colored puddle?

Oh. My. What do you do when you find that? I can't imagine anyone could keep a straight face.

What is it with kids noses? Emma, whom you met at my retirement, once put a Barbie shoe up hers, "Because Mommy and Daddy each had a hand and she had no where else to put it." :-)
