Driftin'

Woke up with this one floatin through my head this morning. The girls love it and i'll catch'em singin' it sometimes when they ain't lookin', especially P2. I had a playlist with a bunch of old '70's ballads on it...this was the first song. I know its a bit sacrilegious not to play Dobie but ole Kracker don't shame him...at least there's a cameo.

Maybe its just the speakers on my computer, but that doesn't even compare to Dobie...not even close.

Agree with Bo; Dobie's version is THE definitive take on this song. But you're right about the cameo, Jay. Mr. Gray DO have some pipes!

I agree with all the above. Dobie Gray's original version is, and always will be, the best. This is one song that has been imitated, but cannot be duplicated.

You know Piper, if I were going to trust anyone else out there to put together a daily playlist to see me though that mission we call life, you'd be the man. You ever start podcasting on a daily basis, I'll be your first subscriber.

That is definitely one of those “floatin’ in the mind” songs.

i suppose its all in the hearin'...i looked for Dobie's version, cuz that's really the one i wanted. But then i found the Kracker, and it was better quality sound than anything there was of Dobie...and i gotta admit, i kinda like it...even though it doesn't quite have the luster of the original. Funny you should mention podcasting...The Dawg and i have laughingly considered doing a radio show...but we think we'd probably be too controversial for most...but a podcast! Now THERE'S an idea!

Let me clarify for the Piper
: "controversial" = call it like we see it...But man...the filler music would be freakin' awsome!

yes, i suppose the word can engender thoughts that could be misinterpreted...nothing explicit or immoral, possibly some things could be termed...insensitive by some groups...but that would be their problem. and yeah...the music would definitely be worth enduring our railings.
