The Annual Precious Precis

We at The Table would like to make an indemnification to the previous report that "The Party" would be held with or without YrHmblScrb. We collectively determined that the health security risk remained high for the attendees and have rescheduled the event for next Friday. However, a small family circle event was held mid-Friday evening and although subdued by most standards (especially in recollection of P2's first annual "The Party" where amazingly a large, cold, aluminum container of Shiner made an appearance), fun was had by all.

The Queen and i teamed up on a yellow/chocolate checkerboard cake. It was our first. I made a chocolate cream cheese frosting that turned out great. The cake however, i have deemed "The Giant Cow Pie". As you can see, the guest of honor didn't really care what it looked like.

Gifts were opened and there were the ubiquitous gasps and giggles from the cards and treasures from Papa and Honey, Grammy and Grampy, the auntees and uncles (which all came by mail or phone).

Here' a little piece of administrative houskeeping to air. HRHTDP recieved a gift from Grammy and Grampy via "the post". She was pretty excited...so excited she immediately endorsed it...

At this point i would like to make certain i state that Auntie D.D. (who acts somewhat more like The Fairy Godmother) came through yet again with one more nail in the coffin of LOUD OBNOXIOUS TOYS. Girl, we certainly appreciate the thought, just a memo... your Day draweth nigh. Besides the full redwood swingset you'll be finding a way to pack and get on that flight home, we'll be shipping you a complete drumset, then cymbals, and on your child's sixth birthday a full set of Pakistani bagpipes (they're cheap and NO ONE can get them to sound good). I'll have you know that "The Laughing Elmo" was not long ago sighted in at 300 yards. I now have somewhat of an idea what some American snipers might feel like in Afganiraq when they see that little red puff cloud. So, this wonderful "Chicken Dance" singer will soon be making a similar field trip at 400 yards.

The best cakes are the ugly ones.

My dad was notorious for giving loud gifts to my kids. Bo had a gun/space ship that the batteries lasted for years. I could have removed them, but it was such a cool toy - just loud.

I think I would like a bowl of that icing. The picture of the birthday girl up close with her cake is priceless!

MamaLou: "the best cakes are the ugly ones" Well, this one is certainly a memorable one for sure.

Riley's Mom: i can give you the recipe...just so you know, i'm not an icing guy, ask my mom. This icing is the best part of the entire cake, its that good.

I2: Yup, she's priceless.

Happy birthday to your little darling! I have a 5 year old as well. My inlaws and I seem to have a war on toys with many pieces. Auntie gave the girls a 50 piece teaset one year, I responded with a 150 piece foam shooting disk gun. But my MIL took the cake with the 15,000 piece bead/jewerly making set.

And thanks for the kind words on my kitchen remodel. I've "seen" you over at Bucks, so I had an idea of who you were, and will now be checking on your sight regularly. Interesting bunch you have there!
