In consideration of the previous subject. I must, at this point, include this story...
HRH has come to that exciting stage in childhood where surprising things start coming out of the mouth. Substantial, objective things...
For the last couple months...well more like maybe four to six, her front teeth have been slowly making the trek down...and recently...out.
She's been ever so gingerly working them to a point where they could be neatly extracted...well, kinda neatly. Believe me, the last couple weeks were just crazy...the first tooth seemed to be hanging by a thread for that entire time, but she refused to let any of us at it. I told her we could hook it up to various things to make the process quick and painless: from tying a string to the back of The Flying Dutchman's car (it's VERY fast), to the front loader of Papa Toby's tractor (of course he suggested something about the barn and rafters and a string and a bale of hay or something), to the floss and swinging door trick, and many, many others...all to no avail. She didn't like ANY of our suggestions.
Finally, one morning she came into our bathroom playing with it with her tongue. The Queen looked at it and started laughing, and told me to do the same. I took one look and said, "That is coming out...NOW!"
"nnnnnnNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"
"Oh yes...it is...now, sit up here."
I fashioned the 'loose tooth noose' and prepped for surgery. HRH was basically...wailing...albeit somewhat quietly. The irony of it all was humorous...she in almost hysterical fear...The Queen and I like Dr. Frankenstein ("that's fronk-en-steen") and Inga just giddy to get at that little jewel.
"Open please..."
"NOOOOOO...DAAAADY...PLEEEEEEEASE!"
"C'mon...open up." More tears and pleading.
Finally, after assuring her she probably wasn't going to even know it happened, i got the noose on.
I then asked her, "Hey, do you think Allie will be at church today?"
"I don't"...WHAM!....gone..."know"... You could see the realization in her eyes that it was over and she hadn't felt a thing. As i was stooping to pick it up off the floor, she started giggling a bloody grin that made The Queen laugh as she said, "I didn't even know you were gonna do it!"
The final result...one down...one to go...
To be continued...

I am sure she will grow up to love that picture.
Back in the day, Mom put a string around my tooth. While I was wailing and carrying on, she already had the tooth out. I can remember looking at her with such surprise and delight and her laughing at me.
Navaho: Well...yeah! We all have at least ONE of those pictures that we absolutely hate. Until we grow up and realize how special those times really were. I have a pic that used to embarrass the snot outta me...now i love it. Maybe i'll post it sometime if i can get St. Mom to email it to me.
MamaLou: Wow...it worked on you too?!
Heh. GREAT story! And I agree on the pic... she'll hate it for a good long time and then it'll be a treasure.
